Fashion trend: Pink Trend
With
cooler temperatures comes a cooler colour palette for our fall wardrobe. We’re
swapping our neons for deep navys and our primary colours for stormy greys. One
colour we’re not quite ready to part ways with is pink- and it’s a good thing,
because designers are embracing the bubblegum shade for fall’s new posh
palette.
Gone
are the fire-engine reds of Carven’s spring collection. The label is embracing
powder pink for fall, offering a selection of shoulder bearing dresses and
oversized coats in the ultra-feminine shade. Powder pink fashions made
appearances at Blumarine as well, where the rosy hue was spotted on furs,
blouses and wool pantsuits.
Carven’s
covetable blush-coloured outerwear is rivaled by Mulberry, who sent pink
overcoats down their Fall 2013 runway, offering a burst of femininity to an
otherwise dim palette. Prada followed suit with a perfectly girly pink plaid
belted coatdress for fall. Mugler took a step further offering furs saturated in
the sweet shade, suggesting we wear our pink fashions through winter.
While
some designers recommend keeping your pinks in line, others prefer to mix and
match different shades of the ladylike hue. Jeremy Laing offered a selection of
head-to-toe pink ensembles at his Fall 2013 show, combining bold berry hues
with the softest pastel pinks. Diane Von Furstenberg and Paul Smith played the
mixing game at their respective Fall 2013 shows as well. Both labels presented
sharply tailored looks that saw the sweetest shades of rosy pink combined with
jewel-toned fuchsias. Moschino Cheap and Chic are strong promoters of pink
fashion this fall, with skirted ensembles on their fall runway blending fierce
Schiaparelli pink with girlish candy-like shades.
Marc
Jacobs suggests experimenting with metallic pink fashion this fall. The
designer added edge to his Fall 2013 runway with a variety of shimmering pink
getups. Tanya Taylor ditched pink’s girly undertones at her Fall 2013 show as
well, offering a metallic leather moto jacket in the rosy hue.
